It is a magnificent, wooden structure located at the north end of a small bay on the edge of the sea, in Naklua, just north of Pattaya.

Sanctuary of Truth is a towering building with the main spire 108 metres high.

Construction of the sanctuary started in 1981, and work on the wooden sculptures is expected to continue till 2025.

The sanctuary is a wooden shrine that exemplifies spiritual faith and oriental philosophy, and represents a quest to discover the truth in our lives.

This sanctuary is where visitors can come to recognise the 7 creators and 4 elements that lead to a most perfect world.

The Sanctuary of Truth presents the seven creators in the form of carved wooden sculptures.

They are: Heaven, Earth, Father, Mother, Moon, Sun and Stars.

Seven Creators & Four Elements Explained

Around the sanctuary’s main spire there are four smaller spires, each with a wooden sculpture that represent the four elements that offer guidance to the ideal world, according to eastern philosophy.

Each of the sculptures represents a celestial figure, holding a symbol representing one of the four elements, which are:

  • A lotus flower, representing the establishment of religion
  • A child, leading an elderly person, symbolising life bestowed upon human beings
  • A book representing the continuation of immortal philosophy
  • A dove, symbolising peace.

The main, central spire has a sculpture of Kalaki mounting a horse.

This sculpture represents Phra Sri Ariyametrai who was the last person to achieve enlightenment in the world.

He became the fifth Buddha in the Bhadra era.

Other Attractions at the Sanctuary

Additional attractions at the Sanctuary include a pony and trap ride or an elephant ride around the property, or you can explore the property on an ATV.

Take a speed boat ride around the bay to view the Sanctuary from the sea.

There are also adventure programs organised for kids.

Well worth the visit and a nice change from the normal places like Walking Street!
